1. Deflationary Native
[1][21]

This VCM represents the SOL token's role as a token for blockspace purchases and the deflationary appreciation due to fee burning. Burnt fees originate from half the base fees of each transaction included in a block. A base fee is fixed at 5000 lamports per signature in a tx.

2. Consensus Token With Enshrined Delegation
[7][8][2][8][2]

Represents the two use cases of staked SOL token enshrined in the protocol design: operation of a validator node or, alternatively, delegation of stake to an extant validator in order to receive a portion of his rewards without having to perform active work.

1. Stake Delegation
[7][81][22]

This VCM represents the value accrued from delegating stake to an active validator:

  • Risk Exposure: a requirement to stake SOL in order to delegate it
  • Conditional Action: the act of delegation
  • Future Cashflow: accrual of stake-proportional rewards from the emissions due to the target validator (less the fees)
2. Consensus Token
[7][82][23]

This VCM represents the value accrued from running a validator participating in the active validation set:

  • Risk Exposure: the user needs to immobilise at least a small amount of SOL in order to be able to operate (though no strict stake requirement is imposed)
  • Conditional Action: a requirement to correctly run and maintain the validator node
  • Future Cashflow: validators receive emissions from participation in the consensus and additional rewards from fees
